“The King and the Prince, I must tell you, are both courting me. They each swear to be sick with love-longing for me, and so they may be for aught I know. I am of the opinion, however, that the sacks of diamonds and gold dust under my bed are as bewitching as my more personal attractions.” (p. 5)

Review:
Alexandria Aurora Fortunato was just a simple Goose Girl until an old woman “gifted” her with beauty as lovely as the dawn, gold dust that falls from her hair when she combs it, and diamonds that form from her tears. Alexandria does not particularly care for her gifts as that is when all her troubles started. Because of them, a Prince and a King are fighting for her hand in marriage and have locked her in a tower until she chooses one of them. However, she does not want to marry either one. She thinks that the King is cruel and that the Prince is an idiot. She just wants to go back to tending her Geese. With the help of her twelve Geese she is able to escape, but her troubles don’t end there and her adventure has only just begun.
The author has created a delightfully humorous novel. The book contains memorable characters, a good plot, and amusing dialogue. Alexandria is a very entertaining narrator. Readers will enjoy this humourous take on a fairytale.
